But she is a typical white person, who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society.Let's break it down

But she is a typical white personTypical white person is not a bigot. Oh my gawd, he just said the "typical white person" is nice, like his grandmother. Get the rope!
But she is a typical white person, who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go awayPeople are afraid of strangers, especially if they look different. You know, as a toddler, I was afraid of my grandfather's beard (and he was a white guy!). And some peoples' fears are completely irrational - for instance a lot of people are afraid of snakes and driving over bridges, and these are fears that often never overcome, so you can't really say that these are moral failures either.
and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society.Because some times good people say something awkward ("the wrong way") and they shouldn't be called "racist." That was the take home message from what Obama was saying. I think the GOP is panicked at the thought of Obama rising above the Reverend Wright story.
